Wild
Plants Walk
Sunday, July 25 at 3:00 PM:
Edible wild plants walk at Fairweather Farm, 119 Starkweather Hill
Rd. in Worthington with naturalist John Root. Free, all ages
welcome; funded by the Worthington Cultural Council.

Alive
Singer, Songwriter, &
Ethinic Folkorist, LAURA WETZLER & FRIENDS, will be playing at
the Worthington Town Hall on Friday, July 16th. Doors
open at 7:00. Performance starts at 7:30 pm. Donations
suggested $10. Sponsored by the Arts Alive in the Hilltowns.

Purchases Books For Elder Caregivers
As part of the Hilltown
Consortium of Councils on Aging grant from the Executive Office of
Elder Affairs for its Care Options Pertaining to Elders project a
purchase of books of interest to elders and their caregivers. A
total of twenty-one books were purchased, three each for the
following town's libraries: Chesterfield, Cummington, Goshen,
Plainfield, Westhampton, Williamsburg and Worthington. Lisa Wenner
of the Meekins Library in Williamsburg will be distributing books to
the other libraries within a week or so. There are books on elder
care-giving, elder health issues, starting a senior care business,
etc. Twenty-one different titles were purchased to make more
information available at Hilltown libraries via inter-library loans.
WILD & SCENIC SATURDAYS JUNE – OCTOBER
East Branch Trail Days - Free workshops
The third Saturday from June to Oct. will find us at the start of
the East Branch trail, which happens to be the dynamic Chesterfield
Gorge. We will be training volunteers to look for macro
invertebrates, identify invasive species, recognize rock formations
and take beautiful photos that help us keep track of the health of
the river. Attend one or all of the trainings, pick out your
section and feel great about helping maintain our Wild and

One step at a time down Glendale Falls
Is trail work and installing rustic stairs more your style? Join
us at Glendale Falls the first Saturday of each month, June –
October 9am. -1pm. Help protect and enhance the Trustees of
Reservation's beautiful Glendale Falls property by installing rustic
stairs and a woodland trail one step at a time.

Walkin’ the Wild & Scenic Westfield River
It’s not too late to adopt your mile section
of Massachusetts first designated Wild and Scenic River. Over 78
miles in ten towns is recognized for its unique and
valuable resources. Be the eyes and ears on the river by adopting a
mile section and conducting a visual survey. It’s a great project
to do with friends and family. You might be surprised who is already
out there Walkin’ the Watershed. Video training is now available,
so you can train at your leisure.

Host a viewing of the Lurking in the Woods for your community.
The Westfield River Wild and Scenic Association is looking for a
few groups/communities interested in learning more about the spread
of the devastating invasive Long Horn Beetle. We need to work
together if we hope to stop it from spreading to our forests. Would
you be interested in hosting a lecture and showing of the film?
